"An impressive, top-notch facility,
with staff and management comitted to
developing quality programs..."
Victoria Cerami, President_
Cerami & Associates_______
Arranged to test round, rectangular and elbow silencers, the laboratory is accredited
to evaluate insertion loss, self-noise and pressure drop in strict accordance with
ASTM E477-99. The lab is also accredited for ANSI S12.31 sound power testing,
and is fully capable of conducting an array of AMCA & ARI standards.
NVLAP ACCREDITATION
To further our ability to provide products
backed by reliable testing and data,
the Dynasonics Acoustical Testing
Laboratory is accredited by the National
Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation
Program (NVLAP Lab Code 200453-0) for ASTM E477 and
ANSI S12.31 standards in accordance
with the United States Department
of Commerce, National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST).
Accreditation by NVLAP is a significant
and meaningful accomplishment for any
testing facility. Meeting the stringent
criteria for this accreditation
demonstrates our commitment to
provide unbiased, accurate and
dependable performance data.
With this association, the industry
can have confidence in our products,
as they are also backed by performance
test reports taken in a NVLAP
accredited laboratory.

"It's a breath of fresh air to find
a sound attenuator manufacturer
whose test data on performance
has not been massaged..."
Warren Blazier, Jr. ________
Warren Blazier & Associates
The NVLAP program was created as a means of qualifying and distinguishing laboratories
once they have proven themselves to be competent and capable of successfully conducting
the specified test requirements. As an industry leader, we take these responsibilities very
seriously and are proud to hold the NVLAP accreditation.
TESTING CAPABILITIES
From rectangular and elbow silencer
testing to air handling system mock-ups,
the NVLAP accredited testing laboratory
at Dynasonics' provides a wide range of
test configurations and generates the
most comprehensive and dependable
performance data in the industry.
ASTM E477 - Standard Test Method
for Measuring Acoustical and Airflow
Performance of Duct Liner Materials
and Prefabricated Silencers.
ANSI S12.31 - American National
Standard Precision Methods for the
Determination of Sound Power
Levels of Broad-Band Noise Sources
in Reverberation Rooms.
ANSI S12.32 - American National Standard
Precision Methods for the Determination
of Sound Power Levels of Discrete-
Frequency and Narrow-Band Noise
Sources in Reverberation Rooms.
Product Performance Verification -
Since the commissioning of the lab,
we have performed extensive product
testing of filters, custom designed
silencers, air nozzles, and head
to head comparison tests.
Project mock-up testing is also a part
of our rigorous laboratory schedule.
Research and Development -
Hundreds of tests specifically
dedicated to product enhancement
have been completed in our facility.
Special tests are routinely conducted
in order to prove/disprove theories
existing within the acoustical
consulting community.
While much of the focus remains on
testing insertion loss and pressure
drop performance, important system
related testing is also conducted on
a regular basis in an effort to further
standards and advance in the
acoustical industry.
FEATURES AND EQUIPMENT
Dynasonics is dedicated to
enhancing product reliability
and to ensuring that the
performance information
of it's equipment is both
accurate and credible.
Utilizing our NVLAP
accredited, state-of-the-art
acoustical testing laboratory
The PCI Industries Acoustical Testing Laboratory delivers exacting and repeatable
measurements from 25 to 20,000 Hz. Designed to meet a variety of critical
requirements, the heart of this unique laboratory is the 31,500 ft3 (892 m3)
reverberation chamber. With no two surfaces parallel, this 567,000 lbs. (257,143 kg)
chamber floats on 212 spring isolators and boasts an impressive 7.74 seconds of
reverberant decay. Vitally important to the accuracy in the lower frequencies is the
exceptional spacial average generated by the 15.6 ft (4.75 m) diameter sweep of the
Bruel & Kjaer (B&K) microphone. The unique dimensions of the chamber ensure
sufficient modal density, even in the 31.5 Hz octave band, and when coupled with
the enormous reach of the microphone boom, guarantees both accuracy and
repeatability of test data.

The facility also houses a work area that includes a 35,000 cfm (16,520 l/s),
8 in-wg. (1,993 Pa) forward and reverse flowvane axial fan, a 122 dBA signal
source chamber and acoustically engineered interconnecting ductwork that
improves isolation and ensures the accuracy of results. The environmentally
controlled lab is operated from a central control room featuring B&K's most
advanced acoustical data acquisition system and a fully integrated computerized
system that automatically manages the various acoustical, airflow and environ-
mental aspects of each test. This allows data to be verified real-time and results
to be printed instantaneously.

guarantees precision and allows us to take the quesswork out of specialty designs.
"The PCI sound lab represents
a significant advancement in the state-of-the-art
regarding the acoustical performance testing of
duct silencers and acoustical duct lining..."
